Regulation of the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of............2022 on the method of marking sows with ear tags containing their individual identification numbers

The Regulation lays down the method of marking sows with ear tags containing their individual identification numbers, including a model of those ear tags and their technical specifications.

An ear tag containing an individual identification number of a sow shall be placed on its auricle in such a way that the sow’s individual identification number on the ear tag can be easily read. After placing on the auricle, the ear tag should remain intact. Blue earrings consist of two parts: a part placed on the inner side of the auricle, called the ‘female part’, and the part placed on the outer side of the auricle, called the ‘male part’.
The following are placed on the female part in a legible and indelible manner:
1) an individual identification number of the sow assigned to it by the holder, consisting of fifteen digits of a height of not less than 5 mm, of which:
a) the first nine digits are the identification number of the producer assigned according to the provisions on the national system for the registration of producers, register of agricultural holdings and subsidy application records;
b) six consecutive digits are the sow’s number assigned to it at the holding, starting with 000001;
2) the graphic symbol of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture.
The design of the ear tag is laid down in Annex 1 to the Regulation. The technical specification of the ear tag is set out in Annex 2 to the Regulation.
