The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the labelling requirements to be met by all forms of white, refined and raw (brown) sugar, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting human safety and health, and preventing deceptive practices.

The notified Technical Regulation applies to all forms of the following products:

·         White sugar,

·         Refined sugar,

·         Raw (brown) sugar.

It does not apply to: Sugar intended for use as a raw material for industries that are in compliance with Interministerial Decision No. 14 308 of 18 December 2014, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP) and the Ministry of Industry and Productivity (MIPRO), and the Regulation governing the operation of the mechanism for the importation of white sugar for the confectionery and chocolate industries of Ecuador, issued pursuant to Resolution No. 658 of 31 December 2014.
