The notified text seeks to amend Resolution No. 1.187 of 2022, which approves the coordinated and consolidated text of the Resolution establishing phytosanitary import requirements for cereal seeds, as follows:

The additional declaration for the species Zea mays (maize) is to be replaced in resolution No. 1.1, so that it reads as follows:

SPECIES: Zea mays (maize)

ADDITIONAL DECLARATION:

1. The consignment has been inspected and is free from:

o    Caulophilus oryzae

o    Corcyra cephalonica

o    Prostephanus truncatus

o    Trogoderma granarium

o    Trogoderma inclusum

2. For High Plains wheat mosaic emaravirus (Sin. High Plains virus).

2.1 The consignment is from a nursery that was inspected during the active growth period. Where any symptoms were detected, the nursery was analysed (indicate diagnostic technique) and found to be free from High Plains wheat mosaic emaravirus (Sin. High Plains virus). 2.2 The consignment is free from High Plains wheat mosaic emaravirus (Sin. High Plains virus), as per the results of an official laboratory analysis, applied to seedlings with real leaf development.

3. For Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii and Clavibacter nebraskensis:

3.1 The consignment is from a nursery that was inspected during the active growth period. Where any symptoms were detected, the nursery was analysed (indicate diagnostic technique) and found to be free from Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii and Clavibacter nebraskensis.

3.2 The consignment is free from Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii and Clavibacter nebraskensis, as per the results of an official laboratory analysis.

4. For Stenocarpella macrospora (sin. Diplodia macrospora, Macrodiplodia macrospora, Macrodiplodia zeae var. macrospora, Stenocarpella zeae) y Stenocarpella maydis (sin. Diplodia maydis, Diplodia zeae).

4.1 The consignment is from a nursery that was inspected during the active growth period. Where any symptoms were detected, the nursery was analysed (indicate diagnostic technique) and found to be free from Stenocarpella macrospora and Stenocarpella maydis.

4.2 The consignment is free from Stenocarpella macrospora and Stenocarpella maydis, as per the results of an official laboratory analysis.

5. For Achyranthes aspera, Amaranthus palmeri, Eragrostis plana, Persicaria nepalensis, Striga spp., Urochloa panicoides.

5.1 The shipment originates from a seed which was inspected and is free from: Achyranthes aspera, Amaranthus palmeri, Eragrostis plana, Persicaria nepalensis, Striga spp. and Urochloa panicoides.

5.2 The consignment is free of the following weed seeds: Achyranthes aspera, Amaranthus palmeri, Eragrostis plana, Persicaria nepalensis, Striga spp. and Urochloa panicoides, as per an official laboratory analysis.

The phytosanitary import requirements for maize seeds, established in this draft measure, will enter into force on 24 May 2024. In addition, shipments of Zea mays (maize) seeds that were certified prior to 24 May 2024 will be exempt from the additional declarations set out in this legal instrument.
