The products, goods or services concerned will be those linked to the Serra de Tramuntana area, declared a cultural World Heritage site. With this aim, the Regulation seeks to contribute to the maintenance and conservation of the area’s cultural landscape as without this agricultural landscape, there would be no such UNESCO declaration. At the same time, it seeks to contribute to environmental sustainability by increasing the visibility of those products, goods or services that enhance the sustainability of the Serra de Tramuntana area.
The products concerned will therefore be: agricultural products (oil (PDO), olives (PDO), wine (PGI), orchard products, etc.); buildings of significant ethnological or heritage value (family houses and farmhouses, and also 'possessions', unique architectural elements such as the Charterhouse of Valldemossa, among others); and hotel and restaurant services that use local products and are committed to sustainability. Other elements are those that help to create the landscape, such as the Sóller railway.
In particular, those agri-food products that are already covered by any Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) or Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) mark are to be protected and respected.
