Swedish Board of Agriculture regulations and general advice (SJVFS 2019:63) on the keeping of dogs and cats

The Swedish Board of Agriculture regulations and general advice (SJVFS 2019:28) on the keeping of dogs and cats contain animal protection regulations and general advice related to the dog and cat animal species. This statute will be repealed and replaced by a new statute (draft) that concerns the same regulatory area and the same species of animals.

The draft statute contains regulations and general advice on how dogs and cats should kept and cared for. The majority of these are, in fact, unchanged from the current statute (SJVFS 2019:28), but the draft contains new and amended regulations and general advice with regard to, for example, limit values on air pollution, size and design of various occupancy spaces for the animals, design of furnishings and equipment, as well as various resources that the animals should have, or have access to, for environmental enrichment and comfort. The draft also contains regulations governing staff and expertise for licensed activities, as well as regulations that give veterinary surgeons greater influence when it is justified for veterinary reasons.
