Proyecto de Resolución "Por medio de la cual se prohíbe la importación, fabricación, registro comercialización y uso de Colistina (Polimixina E), sus sales y la Polimixina B en especies animales" (Draft Resolution prohibiting the importation, manufacturing, registration, marketing and use of colistin (polymyxin E), colistin salts and polymyxin B in animal species)

The purpose of the notified draft Resolution is to prohibit the importation, manufacturing, registration, marketing and use in national territory of colistin (polymyxin E), colistin salts and polymyxin B in animal species. Veterinary drugs for topical use that contain polymyxin B are exempt from this ban, as are those containing polymyxin B as part of their preservative system. A maximum period of three months from the date of publication of the Resolution will be granted for the exhaustion of stocks of the products and labels approved for use in the country. Once this period has elapsed, the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) shall officially cancel all registrations for veterinary products containing colistin (polymyxin E), colistin salts and/or polymyxin B in their formulas, with the exception of those specified in the draft Resolution.
