Overhead contact lines for the operation of Electric Road Systems

Regulations on amendments to the Swedish National Electrical Safety Board’s regulations and general advice (2008:1) on the execution of electrical installations

The regulatory proposal entails certain changes to the current rules on overhead contact lines for the operation of Electric Road Systems. Today, only overhead contact lines for trolley bus operation are regulated, but with the electrification that is to be carried out by the road network in Sweden, there is a need to set basic safety requirements for overhead contact lines for all types of Electric Road System operation.

The rules mean that basic, non-technology-dependent requirements are placed on the design of an overhead contact line for the operation of an Electric Road System. The rules also contain requirements for how these overhead contact lines are placed, for example in relation to buildings, traffic and footbridges.

It is proposed that the proposal be decided on 31 March 2021.
