Draft Law amending Articles 4, 10, 12 IR 19 of Law No VIII-500 on the Welfare and Protection of Animals ofthe Republic of Lithuania (XIVP-2606(2))

The draft law on amendments to Articles 10, 12 and 19 of the Law on Animal Welfare and Protection of theRepublic of Lithuania, No VIII-500, proposes to prohibit the sale of pets that have undergone veterinaryprocedures that alter the appearance or the physiological functions of pets (shortening of the ears, tails,damage to vocal cords, removal of claws, etc.), with the exception of the neutering of the animals and in thecases provided for by other legislation, or of the veterinary procedures carried out by a veterinarian's decisionon the basis of the health of an animal.
