The notified text establishes import requirements for viscera meal, meat and bone meal, and oils and fats of poultry, swine and horses.
The notified text establishes the following specific sanitaryrequirements for the importation into Chile of viscera meal, meat and bone meal, and oilsand fats of poultry, swine and horses, whether pure or blended:A. Products must be accompanied by an official sanitary certificate issued by thecompetent health authority of the country of origin. This certificate must indicate thename of the establishment where the goods were produced, the name, amount andnet weight of the product concerned, the names of the exporter and recipient, and thetype of transport used.B. The sanitary certificate must declare the following:i. that the poultry, swine and horses from which the viscera meal, meat and bonemeal, and oils and fats originate have been:- slaughtered in an abattoir subject to permanent official veterinary medical control,which meets the structural, operational and sanitary inspection requirements forexport authorization; and- inspected ante- and post-mortem and recognised as free of infectious orcontagious diseases of significance to the species.ii. that the viscera meal, meat and bone meal, or oils and fats have been:- processed in a rendering plant authorized by the competent health authority ofChile, which does not process raw material of ruminant origin or which hasseparate processing facilities;- subjected to heat treatment (minimum temperature of 90°C for at least 10minutes or more) that guarantees the destruction of any specific agents andmicrobiological pathogens carried by the product; and- processed in sanitary conditions consistent with good manufacturing practices,including the taking of precautionary measures to prevent the product frombecoming contaminated with pathogens after processing.C. The packaging and containers used for the products must be sealed and labelled. The labelling must indicate the country and establishment of origin, and the name, amount, and net weight of the product.D. Products must be transported from their establishment of origin to their destination in Chile in vehicles or containers that ensure hygiene and sanitary conditions are maintained.E. Each batch of viscera meal and meat and bone meal has undergone microbiological analysis that must demonstrate compliance with the following levels:Salmonella: Absence in 25g: n = 5, c = 0, m = 0, M = 0;Enterobacteriaceae: n = 5, c = 2, m = 10, M = 300 in 1g.Where:n = Number of test samples.m = Threshold value for number of bacteria; the result is considered satisfactory if the number of bacteria in all the samples does not exceed m.M = Threshold value for number of bacteria; the result is considered unsatisfactory if the number of bacteria in one or more samples is equal to or exceeds M.c = Number of samples with a bacteria count that may be situated between m and M; the sample continues to be considered acceptable if the bacteria count of the other samples is equal to or below m.These results must be shown on the official sanitary certificate or attached to the relevant protocols.Upon their arrival in the country, the products may be subject to controls, the cost of which will be covered by the user.
