Gaming machines

Act of ............. amending the Carinthian Slot and Gaming Machines Act

In the future, there will only be lottery licenses for the installation and operation of gaming machines in slotmachine parlours. There is no further possibility of installing and operating gaming machines in individuallocations on business premises of a person who has a valid restaurant permit in accordance withSection 111(1) of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act.

The law now expressly stipulates that the holder of a lottery license is obliged not to allow players to participatein the game by providing technical devices for cash withdrawal as well as technical devices for the placing ofgaming stakes by means of cashless payment in indoor and outdoor areas of the premises. Currently, theprohibition stems from the assessed player protection concepts; now it is also to be explicitly regulated in thelaw.
The proposed amendments to the Carinthian Slot and Gaming Machines Act do not cause any substantiveexpansion of technical requirements with which gaming machines would have to comply in line with the K-SGAG. However, as several provisions of the K-SGAG are formally amended, the present draft law is subjectto an information procedure in accordance with Directive (EU) 2015/1535.
