Plant protection products and basic substances; unmanned aerial vehicles as plant protection equipment

Act amending the Vienna Plant Protection Products Act

Amendments to the wording are being made to emphasize the importance of ‘Integrated Plant Protection’.

The definitions are being extended and rendered more precisely.
The principle is being established, according to which, in the territory of the Province of Vienna and with theexception of certain areas, in addition to authorised basic substances only authorised plant protection productsthat are either considered to be low-risk plant protection products or suitable for use in organic production areto be used.
The use of aerial vehicles for the application of plant protection products is now explicitly prohibited. At thesame time, however, the possibility of obtaining an exemption from this prohibition is also being created, bymeans of an approval process for permission to apply plant protection products by unmanned aerial vehicles(‘drones’).
