This standard establishes chemical, physical and labelling requirements for pepper spray intended for use on human beings.

This standard applies to pepper spray, contained within a canister and delivered only as a fog or stream containing:

·        Oleoresin Capsicum (OC); or

·        Major Capsaicinoids (MC).

It does not apply to pepper spray canisters containing Chloroacetaphenone (CN) or Orthochloro-benzalmalononitrile (CS).
