The Ministerial Decree No. 502 /2023 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian standard ES 8701 which specifies requirements for recessed luminaries incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1000 V. It also specifies requirements for recessed air-handling luminaries for use with a ventilation duct or ventilated space (plenum).

Worth mentioning is that this standard adopts the technical content of IEC 60598-2-2:2023
