This concerns the method for determining the energy performance of buildings, the certification schemes fornon-residential buildings and homes/residential buildings, and the requirements for software programs, whichcalculate the energy performance of buildings.

Regulation amending the Environmental Regulation in relation to new versions of NTA 8800, BRL 9500-U,BRL 9500-W and BRL 9501.

The present Regulation identifies new versions of NTA 8800, BRL 9500-U, BRL 9500-W and BRL 9501 in Annex II to the Environmental Regulation. The provisions in these four documents may contain technical requirements.

NTA 8800: The method for determining energy performance is clarified and simplified in certain respects. In addition, a renovation standard for non-residential construction is included, and new starting points have been added for small homes with regard to ventilation flow and the diameter of the circulation pipe.
BRL 9500-U and BRL 9500-W: Monitoring the work of energy performance advisers is reinforced. The size of the sample check increases, and the annual organisational audit is reinforced. It also provides greater clarity on the process of withdrawing the certificate of professional competence in the case of low-performing advisers.
BRL 9501: Additional calculation tests are added, with which the software for determining the energy
performance must comply.
The provisions apply to all cases without distinction and are non-discriminatory. Article 1.3 of the
Environmental Regulation also includes a provision for mutual recognition.
