The project defines technical requirements for research, design, construction and operation of new ones, aswell as for reconstruction, remodelling and/or overhaul of existing water supply systems.

Draft Ordinance on the design, construction and operation of water supply systems

The project was developed and the proposed changes were integrated into the current Regulation No 2 of2005 on the design, construction and operation of water supply systems. Due to the large number of changes,the project has been developed as an entirely new Ordinance to repeal Regulation No 2 of 2005.

The project sets out requirements for the design, construction and operation of:
— water abstraction facilities;
— extraction facilities;
— pumping stations;
— treatment plants for natural water treatment;
— alignment water pressure facilities;
— outdoor water pipelines;
— water supply networks in water supply areas (main water supply branches, secondary water supplybranches, building water supply deviations) to general means of measuring the entrance to the building watersupply system or the internal (site) water supply network of the users.
Article 7(4) includes a mutual recognition clause in respect of construction products used.

The aim of the legislation is to improve and update requirements for the design, construction and technicaloperation of water supply systems in accordance with good engineering practices and taking into accountchanges in the European and national legislation, including European standards, and identified problems in theimplementation of the Ordinance in practice.
