Draft Order amending the Order on the hygiene of foodstuffs

The provisions on shelf-life labelling of eggs are clarified in order to reflect the change in marketingstandards, while clarifying obligations for sales made directly to consumers.

The requirement that milk producers under enhanced surveillance, due to exceeded criteria for either plate orcell count in milk, must notify DVFA of each analytical result leading to interruptions or resumptions of milkdelivery is repealed. In the future, control efforts will be directed at dairies, when all data are available, whichmakes controls much more resource-efficient.
The draft treats pets and service animals equally when a business owner has to decide whether the animalcan be granted access to the establishment without jeopardising food safety. This is because theconsiderations in the assessment are similar and therefore the current exclusion of pets from sales areas mayappear rigid.
The provisions on training requirements for the trained person who can sign hunter declarations at the huntingsite, in the absence of an official veterinarian, shall be transferred to the Order. At the same time, provisionsare inserted that game handling establishments must be able to demonstrate that they only receive hunterdeclarations from persons they know have the appropriate training.
It shall also update the age requirements of the provisions on separating carcasses in the middle, in line withthe amendments made to the underlying Regulation.
