Swedish National Food Agency’s Regulations (LIVSFS 2024:XX) on the supply of small quantities of wildboar and wild boar meat by hunters

The Swedish National Food Agency proposes that, unlike today, it should be possible for hunters to supplysmall quantities of wild boar and wild boar meat directly to the final consumer and to local retail establishmentssupplying directly to the final consumer.

In order for hunters to carry out activities with respect to the supply of small quantities of wild boar or wild boarmeat directly to the final consumer, it is proposed that the hunters must have undergone certain training andnotified the activity to the control authority.
The regulations stipulate the quantities of unskinned partially eviscerated wild boar and wild boar meat thathunters may supply directly to the final consumer or to local retail establishments supplying directly to the finalconsumer.
Furthermore, hunters and food business operators receiving wild boar for their retail establishments fromhunters are required to examine the wild boar for the presence of Trichinella and, in some cases, caesium-137before the wild boar, meat or derived products are supplied to the final consumer, to document and retaincertain data, and to provide information to the final consumer.
