Draft Decree amending Decree No 345/2002 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade laying down measuringinstruments for mandatory verification and measuring instruments subject to type approval, as amended

Decree No 345/2002 lays down the types of measuring instruments subject to mandatory verification andtype approval. The amendment of the Decree is necessary to permanently ensure the uniformity andcorrectness of measurements and measuring instruments in the area where the measuring instruments areused, in accordance with Act No. 505/1990, on Metrology, in the public interest.

The draft amendment to the Decree establishes the list of types of measuring instruments that are subject totype approval under the Metrology Act. In the case of tachographs in road transport, type approval is carriedout in accordance with the directly applicable Regulation (EU) No 165/2014 of the European Parliament and ofthe Council of 4 February 2014 on tachographs in road transport and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No3821/85 on recording equipment in road transport and amending Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 of theEuropean Parliament and of the Council on the harmonisation of certain social legislation relating to roadtransport.
The amended Decree also contains a newly revised list of specified measuring instruments, their validityperiods and, for certain types of measuring instruments, information on whether a verification certificate isissued for the given type of measuring instrument.
The Decree does not create technical barriers to trade, and merely clarifies certain issues regarding placingmeasuring instruments on the domestic market and their operation.
