Technical specification on the production of products from animals not raised on genetically modified feed

This technical specification lays down the requirements for products from animals not raised on genetically modified feed and allows establishments involved in making such products to design their processes to ensure that these requirements are implemented.

This standard can be used by all establishments wishing to:

a) put in place, implement and maintain specific processes to document how animal feed is manufactured, while acting as suppliers of establishments whose animals are not raised on genetically modified feed;

b) put in place, implement and maintain specific processes to document the production of products from animals not raised on genetically modified feed;

c) request certification for products from animals not raised on genetically modified feed, in accordance with the requirements of this standard;

d) join an inspection and certification scheme as parties involved in the production of products from animals not raised on genetically modified feed.

For the purposes of this standard, ‘products from animals not raised on genetically modified feed’ means products made from animals raised on feed that is not subject to the mandatory labelling framework laid down in the relevant legislation.
