Fire safety requirements for buildings and requirements for firefighting water supply

Given the developments and changes that have taken place in the field of
construction, the draft Regulation lays down fire safety requirements
for buildings. The current Regulation has become outdated and tends to
prohibit new (and often also less inflammable) materials and
technologies, particularly due to its laconic wording. All main
technical requirements in the field of construction have been set out in
the respective norms and standards. However, according to the
assessment of those who drafted the Regulation, the general requirements
stated therein also have to be established as applicable at national
level. Professional and specific technical requirements shall remain in
the standards. Those who drafted the Regulation had the objective of
building with no fire risks in mind, and have laid down the minimum
requirements to achieve this objective.
