The regulatory draft covers tanks, pipes and corrosion prevention systems

Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency regulations concerning tanks and ancillary pipes for flammable liquids

The regulations contain requirements for the design, manufacture, installation and inspection of tanks with ancillary pipes or hoses for handling flammable liquids, as well as requirements relating to corrosion prevention systems for such equipment. They also state requirements on the competence of bodies certifying or inspecting such equipment. The notified regulations contain certain amendments to the content of the existing (and previously notified) regulations (MSBFS 2014:5).The draft also contains the following substantive amendments:- Tanks intended to be in water conservation areas or diesel/heating oil/waste oil tanks to be located in the ground shall also be covered by the regulations, which is currently not the case. These tanks were previously exempt from the scope of the regulations, stated in Chapter 1, § 1, last sentence. The proposal is therefore to remove this exemption.- Thinner compression fittings, clamp ring fittings and press fittings, which may be used for higher pressure, can also be used for lower pressure (see Chapter 2, § 5, second paragraph or Chapter 2, § 6).- The flame retardance requirement for air exhaust pipes and vapour collection systems is removed in certain cases (see Chapter 2, § 12, third sentence).- A new transitional provision concerning tanks previously covered by the exemption in Chapter 1, § 1 (see point 6) is introduced.
