Proposed amendments to the Standards and Specifications for Food Additives

Republic of Korea is proposing to amend the "Standards and Specifications for the Food Additives".

1)    The definition of processing aid is newly established and the toxicological data on submission of a dossier for processing aid and flavouring substances are reduced.

2)    The standard for manufacturing for alkali additives for noodles preparations is deleted because of duplication with its definition.

3)    The specifications of the following 5 food additives are revised:

α-Amylase, β-Carotene, Disodium Ethylenediaminetetraacetate, Ferrous Sulfate, Monosodium L-Glutamate

4)    The general name of 2 following synthetic flavouring substances is corrected: 4-Hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl- 3(2H)-furanon, p-Methyl acetophenone
