Revision of the Mandatory Standards SI 1572 parts 1 and 2, dealing with alcoholic beverages, to be replaced with SI 1572 part 1. 

This revision significantly differs from the old standard version and is based on the following:

·         European Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the definition, description, presentation and labeling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labeling of other foodstuffs, the protection of geographical indications for spirit drinks, the use of ethyl alcohol and distillates of agricultural origin in alcoholic beverages, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 110/2008;

·         American Code of Federal Regulations CFR Title 27, paragraph 5.22.

All sections of this draft will be declared mandatory after the entry into force of this revision.

Both the old standard and the new revised standard will apply for at least two years after the entry into force of the revision. During this time, products may be tested and labeled according to the old or the new revised standard.
