Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 373, dealing with honey. This draft standard revision adopts the Codex Alimentarius Standard 12-1981, including revisions 1987 and 2001, and differs significantly from the previous standard's edition. It includes a few national deviations and changes that appear in the standard's Hebrew section as follow:

  • Adds a new section that appears after section 1 and includes normative references;

  • Adds to section 2.1 a sentence determining that "the honey shall not be the product of bee feeding during Honey storage period unless it's done it the nest level;

  • Adds a new section 2.1.3dealing with honey with supplements and additives;

  • Changes section 3.1;

  • Changes section 3.5.2 dealing with sucrose content;

  • Deletes the footnote and adds a new paragraph to section 4.1 dealing with heavy metals;

  • Changes the reference in section 4.2 dealing with residues of pesticides and veterinary drugs;

  • Deletes section 5.2;

  • Changes the labeling requirements appear in section 6;
  • Changes section 7 and sub-sections 7.3 and 7.5 dealing with methods of sampling and analysis;
  • Changes the Annex to be normative and amend sub-sections 1.2 (diastase activity), 1.3 (hydroximethylfurfural content), 1.4 (electrical Conductivity);
  • Deletes part 2 and applies a new national part dealing with honey with supplements and additives.

Both the old standard and this new revised standard will apply from the date of entry into force of this revision for a period of at least two years. During this time, honey may be tested according to the old or the new revised standard.

All sections of the revised standard will be declared mandatory except Section 1.4 "Electrical Conductivity" in the Annex.
