Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 5438 part 1 dealing with hydrochloric acid for treatment of water intended for human consumption. This draft standard revision adopts the European Standard EN 939: May 2016, with the following changes that appear in the standard's Hebrew section:
· Changes the normative references in paragraph 2;
· Changes paragraph 4.2 dealing composition of commercial product;
· Deletes the column "Type 2" dealing with chemical parameters from Table 5 of paragraph 4.4;
· Adds to paragraph 5.1 dealing with sampling the following sub-paragraphs: 5.1.1 - sampling from tanks and tankers; 5.1.1.1 - sampling from shuffled tanks and 5.1.1.2 - sampling from non-shuffled tanks;
· Allows for additional acceptable test methods in paragraph 5.2 dealing with analysis;
· Adds to paragraph 6.1, dealing with transportation in tankers, a requirement to comply also with Israel Standard 819 part 1;
· Changes the requirements of paragraph 6.4 dealing with marking;
· Changes Annex A (normative) dealing with general information on hydrochloric acid; Changes Annex B dealing with the general rules relating to safety, to B.1 (normative annex) - Rules for safe handling and use and B.2 (informative annex) - Emergency procedure, including a change in annex B.2.2 dealing with spillage;
