These regulations are being notified in order to fast track the scrutiny of applications of non-specified food and food ingredients in a time bound manner. These regulations propose changes in the procedure for grant of prior approval for non‑specified food and food ingredients including change in application form for seeking approval for such foods. The Form-I of the said regulations has been revised to enable the applicants to submit the key information viz. the end use, target population intended, and benefits purported to be given by the ingredient at the initial stage.
