The notified Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by gas-fired domestic cooking appliances (gas cookers), prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting human health and safety, and the environment, and preventing misleading practices.

The notified Technical Regulation applies to the following products that have been imported, locally manufactured or assembled from CKD units:

1          Cookers;

2          Hobs;

3          Built-in cookers;

4          Cookers with ovens;

5          Cookers with cabinets;

6          Ovens;

7          Built-in ovens;

8          Roasters;

9        The notified Technical Regulation also applies to cooking appliances that use electricity, in addition to gas, for various functions.

The notified Technical Regulation does not apply to the following cooking appliances:

1          Cooking appliances for outdoor use;

2        Cooking appliances operating at pressures exceeding those established in Ecuadorian Technical Standard NTE INEN 2259; 

 3       Cooking appliances for commercial, industrial or professional use.
