The notified measure establishes phytosanitary requirements:for the importation of walnut (Juglans spp.) tree plants and twigs coming from the United States of America to be used as propagation materials.

Some of the measures established are:

-         The plant material must be covered by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the official phytosanitary authority of the United States of America (USDA/APHIS);

-         The plant material must come from an officially certified production programme or from a germplasm nursery or repository controlled by the official plant health authority of the relevant country;

-         The material must have undergone disinfestation treatment against insects and mites through immersion or spraying, and the phytosanitary certificate must state, in the section on treatment, the name of the product, the type of application and the dose used.
