Electrical equipment (WEEE)

Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations on determining financial contributions for electrical equipment taking into account the content of dangerous substances

The regulations contain provisions on financial contributions for electrical equipment taking into account the content of dangerous substances.

The financial contribution charged by organisations implementing producer responsibility from affiliated producers is proposed to be modulated taking into account the content of hazardous substances in the electrical equipment. This means that the financial contribution levied on producers by organisations implementing producer responsibility shall be higher than the normal amount where one or more of the goods included in the electrical equipment contain one or more substances from the candidate list at concentrations above 0.1percent by weight. Exemptions shall be made for electrical equipment subject to the chemical tax and where the same substance is also included in the candidate list.
It is then up to the organisations implementing producer responsibility to determine the actual amounts in their price lists and they will be allowed to set their prices independently.
