Earlier this year, DK notified rules (amendments to the Environmental Protection Act) which will allow five municipalities to include diesel-powered passenger cars in their existing environmental zone.

This Order lays down the detailed requirements for the retrofitting of particulate filters and the approval and registration of vehicles with them.

Order on requirements for diesel-powered lorries, buses, vans and passenger cars in municipal environmental zones, etc.

Diesel-powered passenger cars that do not have a factory-mounted particulate filter can access environmental zones by retrofitting a particulate filter.

According to the draft Order on requirements for diesel-powered lorries, buses, vans and passenger cars in municipal environmental zones, etc., the requirement to retrofit a particulate filter on a diesel-powered passenger car is deemed to be complied with if the particulate filter has been approved pursuant to Order No 1474 of 21 December 2009 on exemption from particulate emissions tax for the retrofitting of particulate filters.
