Mushrooms approved for marketing or for the production of mushroom products

Regulation of the Minister for Health amending the Regulation on mushrooms approved for marketing or for the production of mushroom products, foodstuffs containing mushrooms and the qualifications of mycologists and mushroom experts

The draft Regulation amends Annex 2 ‘List and types of mushroom products authorised for marketing’ by introducing, amongst other aspects, the possibility to produce dried mushroom mixtures containing mushrooms of different species in the form of whole fruiting bodies, the pilei itself or cuts, in the form of flakes, meal or flour, made of pilei together with stipes, whose number must not exceed the number of pilei. Currently, the production and placing on the market of dried mushrooms is only possible if they are made with a single species. In the

light of the above, it has been stipulated that:
- a mixture of dried mushrooms of different species may be produced with dried mushrooms of several species listed in items 1–10, 13–26, 30, 32, 35–39, 43–44 and 46–47 of Annex 1 to the Regulation;
- water content must not exceed 12 %;
- the drying process must be carried out separately for each species of mushroom. Currently, the production and placing on the market of dried mushrooms is only possible if they are made with a single species.
Moreover, the draft Regulation further specifies the mushroom species approved for the production of indicated mushroom products and foodstuffs containing mushrooms. The draft Regulation does not introduce any new mushroom species to the list of mushrooms approved for marketing or for the production of mushroom products and foodstuffs containing mushrooms, and applies to the mushroom species already listed therein.
