The current regulation requires that all bovines born after 1 January 2013 should be tested for the presence of the BVD virus. It is now proposed to amend the regulation to include bovines born before this date, except for those female bovines for which a valid BVD virus test result is recorded for one or more offspring.

BOVINE VIRAL DIARRHOEA (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2020

S.I. No. 30 of 2017 Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Regulations 2017 currently requires a person who has in his/her posession a bovine born on or after 1 January 2013 to test that animal for the presence of the Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus. To ensure eradiation of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea it is now necessary to amend the legislation to test animals born prior to 1 January 2013.
