Dried fruit

Draft Order of the Minister for Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania amending Order No 3D-155 of the Minister for Agriculture of 19 April 2006 approving quality requirements for dried fruit

(hereinafter referred to as the draft).

The draft lays down requirements for the quality and commercial presentation of dried fruit. Its provisions are binding on all companies of the Republic of Lithuania that engage in the production, import and sale of the products specified in this draft. The draft also includes a mutual recognition clause, i.e. the ‘single market clause’, as defined in the Communication from the Commission COM(2017) 787 final of 19 December 2017.

The requirements of the draft apply to the following dried fruits: apples, pears, pineapples, bananas, mangoes, peaches, apricots, plums, dates, figs, grapes (raisins), sweet cherries, sour cherries, made from fresh fruit of the types specified in the draft and intended for direct consumption (without any further heat treatment). The draft defines the concept of dried fruit and lays down specific quality requirements for individual fruits. The draft sets out the technical requirements for the preparation of raw materials and the labelling requirements for dried fruits and describes certain testing methods.
