Second Ordinance amending the Chimney Sweeping and Inspection Code

The Chimney Sweeping and Inspection Code [Kehr- und Überprüfungsordnung – KÜO] lays down which installations and fireplaces must be regularly swept or inspected and with which intervals this must be done. It regulates the details of sweeping and inspection, contains requirements for the forms to be used (records of work carried out, notification of results) and regulates the fees for purely state-authorised chimney sweeping.

The Second Ordinance amending the Chimney Sweeping and Inspection Code aims to

make it possible to reduce the frequency of sweeping solid-fuel fireplaces in cases of clearly low-residue combustion. Provisions on fees for substitute performance and reminders are to be included in the KÜO. The labour charge applicable to the fee rates is to be adjusted.
