Order on the conditions for converting internal combustion engine vehicles into battery electric or fuel cell electric vehicles

In order to allow vehicles in service originally designed to operate with an internal combustion engine to operate with a battery electric or fuel cell electric engine, manufacturers offer vehicle conversion devices.

To ensure a minimum efficiency and safe installation on vehicles, and in the absence of harmonised regulations at Community or global level, it is necessary to issue a national regulatory act laying down the technical and administrative provisions for approving these conversions on used vehicles of different international categories (M, N and L).

An assessment of the requirements is envisaged 24 months after the entry into force of the text to evaluate the advisability of introducing amendments.
