The draft technical regulation lays down requirements for retail establishments wishing to donate foodstuffs of animal origin and to supply or donate poultry eggs. The purpose of the draft regulation is to prevent potential obstacles and reduce the burden.

Requirements are laid down for donation of frozen products of animal origin.

Requirements are laid down for the distribution of eggs, allowing eggs to be marketed from the 22nd day after laying until the expiration of the 'best before ...' date.

Requirements for retail establishments supplying poultry eggs or donating foodstuffs of animal origin

The draft technical regulation lays down requirements for retail establishments which carry out marginal, localised and restricted activities in accordance with Article 1(5)(b)(ii) and (c) of Regulation (EC) No 853/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 laying down specific hygiene rules for food of animal origin:

- when donating small quantities of products of animal origin, including poultry eggs, (hereinafter referred to as 'foodstuffs') to other retail establishments;

- when supplying small quantities of poultry eggs to food chain businesses.
