Industrially processed rubber products

Draft Joint Ministerial Decision laying down essential requirements for industrially processed rubber products

This draft technical regulation relates to products which contain industrially processed rubbers (tiles) and places restrictions on the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in compliance with the provisions of the REACH Regulation and relevant European standards (standards ELOT EN 1176, ELOT EN 1177 and ELOT 71.3).

It also lays down:

1. Essential requirements for products made entirely of rubber or which contain rubber intended to be used for the purposes specified in Annex I to the Decision. Rubber may either come from primary raw materials or secondary ones from the recycling of rubber products such as ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), ethylene acrylate rubber (EA, AEM), polyurethane rubber (AU, EU), silicone rubber (PMQ, PVMQ, VMQ) or others.

2. The requirements laid down and set out in Annex II ensure that these processed rubber products comply with the provisions of the relevant technical legislation and the corresponding relevant provisions on chemical compounds and mixes.
