Draft Act on the organisation of breeding and reproduction of livestock

Under the draft Act, livestock includes the species listed in Article 2(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/1012 of the European Parliament and of the Council as well as poultry, fur animals, cervids, alpacas, silkworms and honeybees. In order to be considered as breeding animals, livestock belonging to the poultry, fur animals, cervids, alpacas, silkworms or honeybees species must meet at least one of the following conditions: the animal must be recorded in a herd-book or a register; its parents or grandparents have been recorded in a herd-book or a register of the same breed or breeds, or breeding line; its use is provided for in the breeding programme kept for the particular herd-book or register. However, in order to be considered a pure-bred breeding animal, an animal of the above-mentioned species must be a descendant of at least two generations of animals registered in a herd-book of a particular breed or line and meet the requirements for entry in herd-books laid down in the breeding programme. The germinal products of the above-mentioned species are: male breeding stock semen, hatching eggs, silkworm eggs, silkworm larvae, oocytes and embryos intended for the reproduction of the animals.
