Minimum Standards - School Transportation Vehicles; (27 page(s), in English)

Proposed rule amendments - The rule updates are designed to align with Federal standards, reflect current industry practices, and incorporate recommendations from Colorado school transportation professionals. In addition, various "clean up" language changes have been incorporated into the draft to clarify the requirements. The original rulemaking process, notified in G/TBT/N/USA/1969, was terminated because Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards were incorporated into the draft regulation. Colorado regulators are required to comply with a very specific set of requirements when standards are incorporated into regulation. The incorporated standards must be identified by name as well as date/version, and explanations of where those standards can be found and accessed must also be included. To properly incorporate the referenced Federal standards into Colorado state regulations, a rulemaking hearing will be held on 14 June 2023 at 9am Mountain Time (MT). Information about the hearing will likely be posted to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) School Transportation page at https://www.cde.state.co.us/transportation.
