Control of Air Pollution From New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine Standards

On 28 March 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a proposed rule titled "Control of Air Pollution from New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards" (notified in G/TBT/N/USA/1567/Add.1). EPA is extending the comment period for this proposed rule, which was scheduled to end on 13 May 2022. The Clean Air Act requires that the record of proceedings allowing oral presentation of data, views, and arguments on a proposed rule be kept open for 30 days after completion of the proceeding to provide an opportunity for submission of rebuttal and supplementary information. Because EPA held a third day of public hearing for this proposed rule, the final "proceeding allowing oral presentation of data, views, and arguments," was held on 14 April 2022. For this reason, the public comment period for this proposed rule is extended and will now end on 16 May 2022.

DATES: The comment period for the proposed rule published on 28 March 2022, at 87 FR 17414, is extended. Comments must be received on or before 16 May 2022.
