The notified draft Technical Regulation lays down the identity and quality requirements to be met by peppers in natura after preparation and packaging. It seeks to ensure equal treatment in respect of identification and classification of the product for marketing purposes within MERCOSUR (including imports from outside the MERCOSUR area), thereby contributing to the protection of consumer health, the elimination of technical barriers and the prevention of fraud and unfair trade practices.
