This Draft East African Standard specifies the requirements, sampling, and test methods for carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks (ready to drink).

This standard does not apply to products for which other standards apply such as:

1.    waters (including packaged water, flavoured drinking water and packaged natural mineral waters);

2.    fruit drinks;

3.    fruit juices, pulp, puree, and nectars;

4.    vegetable juices and nectars;

5.    herbal juices (ready to drink and concentrates); and

6.    cereal based beverages.
