(1) This Communiqué covers external power supplies (EPS), battery chargers for portable batteries of general use, wireless chargers, wireless charging pads and USB Type-C cables.

(2) This Communiqué shall not apply to:

a) uninterruptible power supplies, meaning devices that automatically provide backup power from storage when the electrical power from the mains power source drops to an unacceptable voltage level;

b) except for separate control gears in battery-operated products referred to in subparagraph (c) of Article 2 of Annex III of the Communiqué on Ecodesign Requirements for Light Sources and Separate Control Equipment (2019/2020/EU) (SGM:2021/11), published in the Official Gazette dated 6/8/2021 and numbered 31560, and not subject to any other exemption referred to in Annex III, the separate control gears defined in subparagraph (c) of the first paragraph of Article 5,

c) separate control gears for luminaires for emergency lighting,

ç) separate control gears for low luminous flux light sources;

d) EPS designed, tested and marketed to be used exclusively with medical devices, as defined in Medical Devices Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 2/6/2021 and numbered 31499,

e) docking stations for autonomous appliances, meaning devices in which a battery-operated appliance that executes tasks requiring the appliance to move without any user intervention places itself for charging;

f) EPS designed, tested and marketed to be used exclusively with means of transport for persons or goods;

g) consumer products for which the primary load of the converted voltage within the consumer products themselves is not supplied to a separate end-use product.

(1) The purpose of this Communiqué is to lay down ecodesign requirements for the placing on the market or putting into service of external power supplies (EPS), battery chargers for portable batteries of general use, wireless chargers, wireless charging pads and USB Type-C cable pursuant to the implementation of the Regulation on the Ecodesign of Energy-Related Products, which entered into force by Presidential Decree No. 5187 dated February 4, 2022.
