In view of the rising risk of international incidents involving electric motorcycles, electric bicycles, and electrically power-assisted bicycles, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) proposes to expand the scope of legal inspection requirements for seven types of power supply equipment, including non-vehicle-mounted chargers for electric motorcycles. The proposed amendments primarily make available an alternative conformity assessment procedure for business operators to choose from. In addition, the scope of mandatory inspection for electric vehicle conductive AC and DC/combo charging equipment is expanded from products not exceeding 30 kW to products not exceeding 750 kW.
