Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Porcine Semen

The Requirements regulate the importation of porcine semen. The main points of the amendments include:

1.    In addition to frozen porcine semen to which the current Requirements apply, fresh porcine semen is also included into the scope of the proposed draft amendments;

2.    Test methods designated in the Requirements must comply with the OIE Manual of Diagnostic Test and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals. When such methods are not available, methods published in international scientific journals are to be used; Harmonize conditions to be met by the donor boars, their farms of origin, the semen collection centre, and collection, processing and storage of the semen with international standards, taking into consideration domestic and exporting countries' disease situations.
