The proposal involves adoption of revised inspection standards for eye protectors, expending the current inspection scopes to cover face shield. The conformity assessment procedure will be Registration of Product Certification (RPC) Scheme (Modules II+IV, II+V, or II+VII) or Batch-by-Batch Inspection Scheme.

Eye protectors are subject to mandatory inspection under the Commodity Inspection Act. The current inspection standards CNS 7174:1998, CNS 7175:2005, CNS 7176:2002 and CNS 7177:2002 will be replaced by CNS 7175:2020 and 7177:2015. The BSMI intends to adopt CNS 7175:2020 and CNS 7177:2015 standards as the inspection standards.
