The notified text establishes requirements for verifying the genetic purity and identity, and physical, physiological and sanitary quality, of certified seed for the production of staple grains (rice, beans, sorghum and maize), through production, processing and marketing oversight.

It establishes requirements for the validation and registration of commercial, own-use and experimental varieties.

The text also establishes requirements for importers, distributors and suppliers of certified seed for the production of staple grains (rice, beans, sorghum and maize).

It applies to all natural and legal persons involved in the production, marketing, importation, processing and validation (commercial use, own use and experimental use) of certified seed for the production of staple grains in national territory.
