The notified regulation implements the provisions and procedures set out in Law No. 27104 (Law on the prevention of risks derived from the use of biotechnology) and its Regulation and in the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity that concern activities involving living modified organisms (LMOs) for the agricultural sector intended for:

(i) Use as food or feed, or for processing;

(ii) Contained use; or

(iii) Intentional introduction into the environment.
