(1) Added honey and bee pollen as feed for bees to the scope of items subject to animal quarantine;

(2) Newly established import requirement, quarantine methods and standards for honey and bee pollen as feed for bees.

Key details:

Honey and bee pollen as feed for bees must comply with the import requirements and be accompanied by an official veterinary quarantine certificate issued by the Veterinary Authority of the exporting country.

(Irradiated honey and bee pollen) Honey and bee pollen as feed for bees must be irradiated at an absorbed dose of 15kGy at an irradiation treatment facility. (Irradiation treatment was conducted using Gamma rays emitted form Cobalt-60 (60Co) or Electron beam accelerator not exceeding 10Mev) The irradiation treatment facility must be approved and registered by the exporting country's government and must have been notified to the Korean quarantine authorities prior to export.

(Non-irradiated honey and bee pollen) Apiaries and facilities producing honey and bee pollen must meet the following disease-free requirements for honeybee.

* Parasitic mites (Acarapis spp., Varroa spp., Tropilaelaps spp. etc); within a 50km radius for at least 2 years prior to the commencement of export quarantine.

* American foulbrood, European foulbrood, Nosemosis, Chalkbrood disease, Sacbrood, Bee paralysis; within a 10km radius for at least 2 years prior to the commencement of export quarantine.
