The Act on Sustainable Development of Coastal and Offshore Fisheries; (6 page(s), in Korean)
The Act on Sustainable Development of Coastal and Offshore Fisheries aims to prevent the entry into the domestic market of fishery products produced through illegal fishing, etc., and to establish a distribution order for legally produced fishery products.
The Act provides the legal basis for introducing submission and verification procedures for catch certificates for certain imported fishery products, and the purpose and basic direction of the system are being shared in advance with WTO Members.
Specific operational standards, such as the fishery products subject to the requirement, documents to be submitted, the verification authority and verification procedures, will be specified in the course of preparing subordinate statutes and public notices, taking into account consultations with relevant authorities, opinions from industry and comments from the international community. Once the subordinate statutes and public notices are prepared, Korea intends to submit a WTO TBT notification again.
